Deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture, coffee has been an integral part of the country's history and society for over a hundred years.

At Lacàph, we have a passion for Vietnamese coffee and we want to share this passion with you. It is embodied in our coffees, which are blended from beans grown by our network of carefully selected smallholder farmers in four provinces of Việt Nam.

But our passion goes beyond making excellent coffee.

Our goal is to share Vietnamese coffee and culture with curious people all over the world. That’s why we take the time to learn more about the many communities that collectively produce our coffees, as they too have a passion for Vietnamese coffee, and we want to share their stories, culture, and rich heritage with you. Our coffees bring you together with these people, celebrate our shared passion and take you on an unforgettable adventure where you discover Vietnamese coffee and cultural culture sip by sip.

How it all began: Timen Swijtink had been living in Vietnam for over ten years when he met Korean newcomer Scott Sehoon Bahng. One came from the field of consumer brand development, the other was an experienced coffee expert. Together, they hatched a plan to share Vietnamese coffee and Vietnamese culture with curious people around the world, and the vision of Lacàph was born.

The two set out to explore Việt Nam and, in search of the perfect bean plantations, they visited four provinces. They met farmers, drank coffee, listened to their stories, and finally found what they were looking for. They returned to Sài Gòn with the beans and Scott began roasting.

These first roasts became Lacàph’s signature blends for Phin, Filter, and Espresso, and by early 2020, they were ready to launch their company. Development has not been smooth, but Lacàph has continued to evolve and is now a premium Vietnamese coffee brand. With their vision in mind, Timen and Scott continue to share Vietnamese coffee and Vietnamese culture with people everywhere.

The Vietnamese coffee book
answers these questions and more. It tells the story of Vietnam and its coffee, people working in the country’s booming coffee sector, and the role coffee has played in shaping Vietnam since the arrival of the first beans more than 160 years ago.

If you’re visiting Việt Nam – Hô Chí Minh City – be sure to stop by the

for a coffee or two.
