The event, which took place from 16 to 18 January as part of the Winter at Tantora festival, pitted top international polo players in an adrenaline-pumping game against the stunning backdrop of the Al-Ula Gorges.

Organized by the Royal Commission for Al-Ula in collaboration with the Saudi Polo Federation, Desert Polo is the world’s first modern polo tournament to be held in the desert. A long-time supporter of this prestigious sport, Richard Mille is the Official Timekeeper of the exclusive two-day event.

Among the most famous polo players of the tournament was Pablo Mac Donough, a member of the Richard Mille family and a long-time partner of the brand. Argentine-born Mac Donough, who has scored more than ten goals, played alongside his La Dolfina teammates, wearing his RM 53-01 Tourbillon. After their eleventh victory at the Argentine Open, they each led a team that competed with guest players and sponsors for the first-ever Desert Polo Trophy.

“We are proud to be part of this important event and to support the further development of polo in Saudi Arabia. The Al-Ula region provides the perfect natural backdrop to see some of the world’s biggest polo stars in action.” Peter Harrison, CEO of Richard Mille EMEA
