Inspired by the fascinating lives of Archduchess Dorothea and Count Palatine Joseph in 19th-century Budapest, the Dorothea Hotel seamlessly blends the vibrant energy of a modern metropolis with the timeless splendor of the city.

Housed in three magnificent buildings from different eras, the Dorothea Hotel embarks on a journey through time to rediscover local heritage in a modern way.

The hotel features a stunning colonnade with an ornate ceiling and walls adorned with painting-like portraits by Hungarian art and fashion photographer Zoltán Tombor. Women’s playful artwork showcases traditional clothing with a modern twist. The exclusive works for the hotel can also be found in the guest rooms. As you enter the newly designed reception area, you are greeted by a magnificent chandelier with long glass panels and can catch a glimpse of the historic staircase that contrasts with the intricate blue Zsolnay tiled wall.

The 216 guest rooms and suites of the Dorothea Hotel are divided into two different design categories, namely contemporary and historic rooms, all of which are equipped with modern amenities. Contemporary guest rooms are decorated in soft beige tones with orange accents that contrast beautifully with the dark wood floors and peacock tiles.

In addition to the fashionable artworks of Tombor, you will see photos depicting the urban development initiated by Count Palatine Joseph. The historic guest rooms are located in the oldest Weber building and are marked on the doors with portraits of women from the 1800s, taken from the Hungarian National Gallery. Inside, you will find decorative cornices around the large neo-Renaissance windows and soft furniture with subtle floral embroidery inspired by local folk motifs.

The heart of the hotel is the courtyard where the Pavilon Restaurant & Bar is located, an airy, lush garden oasis where guests are surrounded by nature and grandeur. Under the direction of Chef Carmine di Luggo, this restaurant offers a new way of eating in the city with dishes that come from the region and are served on the table.

Each Autograph Collection offers a unique experience for the hotel with “The Mark”. In the pavilion, guests will find a succulent herb wall that pays homage to Palatine Joseph, who had a great fascination for botany. The herb wall and the plants are the ingredients and inspiration for the cocktails and dishes in the hotel’s restaurants.

On the ground floor, Anton’s Bar & Deli offers artisanal coffee during the day, as well as light snacks and freshly baked pastries, while in the evening it transforms into a dynamic bar and common room serving innovative cocktails. The hotel plans to open two more restaurants in 2024, led by three-Michelin-starred chef Dani García: BiBo, a rooftop Andalusian brasserie with panoramic views of Buda and Alelí, an authentic Italian osteria on the ground floor.

A true place to relax and revitalize is the spa area with gym.

Dorothea is located in the lively heart of Budapest, close to attractions such as the Parliament or the Chain Bridge, business districts and city festivals.
