In addition to the light and fresh Guts Chardonnay, the VDP. Winery St. Antony from Nierstein also serves the more adult Chardonnay Réserve. “We are big fans of the great white Burgundy and like to be inspired by our colleagues in France,” says Dirk Würtz. “Our soils on the Red Slope offer enormous potential for excellent Chardonnays. We are very satisfied with the development of our first vintages of the Chardonnay Réserve.”
The small-berry grapes for the Chardonnay Réserve come from an absolute top location, which is located above the VDP. The Mount of Olives is located in Nierstein. The strictly selected grapes were fermented spontaneously in new and used oak barrels and lay on the full lees until shortly before filling.
With the 2022 vintage, as in previous years, the St. Antony winery has succeeded in producing an expressive, clear and melting Chardonnay that, despite its dense structure, does not appear overloaded or cumbersome in any way. This wine is already a real pleasure, but it can also mature for many more years without any problems and develop its full potential.
