With the renovation of the former Archbishop's Seminary on Corso Venezia, a new Milanese meeting place for hospitality and gastronomy, shopping and wellness, entertainment and culture has been created, right in the heart of the fashion district: the Hotel Portrait Milano.

Since December 14, 2022, one of the most fascinating hidden places in the fashion district has been open to the city and the public again after more than two decades. Thanks to a delicate restoration project promoted by the Lungarno Collection and entrusted to the architect Michele De Lucchi, the former Archbishop’s Seminary at Corso Venezia 11 now opens as Portrait Milano: a new destination that combines the tailor-made hospitality for which the Portrait brand is known with gourmet, shopping and cultural experiences.

The majestic Piazza del Quadrilatero appears through the splendid Baroque archway designed by Francesco Maria Richini and, with its over 2,800 square meters, offers not only a new promenade that connects Corso Venezia to Via Sant’Andrea, but also an elegant seventeenth-century portico, enlivened by the presence of restaurants, bars, boutiques and a wellness center.

This project is called Portrait Milano. Portrait is a young brand that is well-known in the world of hospitality and whose hotels are part of The Leading Hotels of the World. After Rome and Florence, it is now coming to Milan to evolve and offer an experience not only to hotel guests, but also to travelers and locals.

“My family and I are honored to have had the opportunity to add a new chapter to the long history of this extraordinary place. After its many uses, the former archiepiscopal seminary is now reopened to the people of Milan and lovers of this city, who can finally admire it in all its architectural beauty and experience all that it has to offer. Our portraits were born with a strong desire to enhance the quality, history and values of the places where they are located. In Milan, this will also be possible thanks to the collaboration with partners we have selected, who share our values and visions and who we are sure will bring great quality and excellence to this project.”
~Leonardo Ferragamo, President of Lungarno Collection.

The selected brands include:

Beefbar, a restaurant brand with an Italian DNA and a strong cosmopolitan essence. The restaurant and bar on the east side of the piazza are entrusted to the founder Riccardo Giraudi.

Antonia, a symbol of fashion in Milan and around the world. The selection of international and new emerging brands, the result of the constant research carried out by Antonia Giacinti and Maurizio Purificato, is housed in the new premises of more than 800 square meters, which are added to the historic shop windows in Brera.

SO-LE STUDIO, the first flagship project brought to life by the creativity of Maria Sole Ferragamo, who revisits the beauty of discarded materials in a circular process of creativity and design, transforming them into evocative jewellery.

The Longevity Spa, which promotes integrated, high-performance, high-tech protocols to help people achieve personal well-being through a perfect balance between health, conscious beauty and mental energy.

Vivi Flower Shop, born from the synthesis of the work of three generations dedicated to floriculture and a contemporary concept of floral arrangement that starts from the light and colors of flowers and plants to create natural works of art.

Portrait Milano directly manages the spaces dedicated to the bars and restaurants on the north side. Featuring a bar, restaurant, a magnificent garden and an evocative loggia, Casual Dining 10_11 (“Ten Eleven”) offers cuisine inspired by the northern Italian tradition, with authentic and emotional flavors that evoke memories, and a mixology that makes the evolution of the Italian and Milanese ritual of the aperitif its DNA.

The Piazza del Quadrilatero remains the common denominator for all our partners, a square that everyone overlooks and that wants to be experienced as an opportunity for many. It is a stage that bears no one’s signature, but simply a name – PORTRAIT MILANO – that inevitably connects it with the city and all its protagonists. “One of our main goals for Portrait Milano is to make it a center for culture, from fashion and design to gastronomy and lifestyle. Through our location in the historic seminary, our thoughtful architecture and design, and our curated partnerships, we hope to create a vibrant environment that celebrates Milan and Italy as much as the people who come to visit from all over the world,” says Valeriano Antonioli, CEO of Lungarno Collection.

From the first to the fourth floor of the building, the private dimension of this project unfolds: 73 rooms and suites welcome guests in an oasis of privacy and tranquility, enveloping them in timeless elegance, with the stylistic touch of the architect Michele Bonan, who supervised the interior design of all the houses of the Lungarno Collection. The classic style recalls the tradition of Milanese residences, but with contemporary details inspired by Tuscan craftsmanship, such as leather handles and Florentine rattan boiseries, as a tribute to the historic places of the Ferragamo family.

The values and objectives of Portrait Milano are shared with its partners to make this new destination a gateway and a synthesis to discover and experience the true identity of the city by integrating people, cultures, experiences and spaces. A symbol of the link between the unique and authentic essence of the city and the international dimension to which it is oriented.
